Field visit is the importance part of education where we students can learn practically what we learn in class. As a part of education, my college organized field visits to CG Industrial Park (CGIP). CGIP is located at Nawalparasi, spanning over 137 acres of land, about 185 km by road from Kathmandu, the Capital of Nepal. We, there, visit three forms i.e., Noodles, packaging and cigarette forms. We spent around 3-4 hours there.

We entered CGIP around 12:40 PM. One member of HR came to take us to the gate. Firstly, we entered the Wai-Wai Noodles plant. After that we moved to the packaging factory, then the HR team leader took us to the meeting room and at last we visited the cigarette factory.

OBJECTIVES

  • To acquire knowledge of how forms work.

  • Explore the processes running in organization.

  • Practically exploration, what we learn in class.

WAI-WAI NOODLES PLANT

At first we entered the wai-wai noodle plant. We were divided into 4-5 groups there. They took us inside and explained the procedure of how noodles are made and after that took us outside where we students asked some queries.

Wai-Wai Noodles is an international brand of instant noodles. In Nepal Wai-Wai factory was established in 2050 B.S. There were a total of 5 plants, which run 24 hrs, if there are no issues. There, workers work in two shifts (6AM - 6PM, 6PM - 6AM). For ready to eat, it takes around 35 minutes to make.

Wai-Wai Noodles has more than 150 varieties. There, in 5 plants, more than 60,000 cartoon noodles are produced per day. Those cartoons were transferred within and outside the country for sale. Noodles are carried out to foreign through cargo planes. It is exported in more than 50 countries. There is a high export of noodles in Australia. It takes around 1 month to reach there. According to them, more than 40,000 cartoons are sold per day within the country.

While we asked some queries there, one of my friends asked “Is Wai-Wai Noodles safe for health”, and they answered "It is totally safe”. As per they, there is a QC ( Quality Control ) department which checks the quality of it. They check how long it will last, whether the weight is correct or not and so on.. There,  from 24 gram to 120 gram noodles are produced.  They also said that concerned authorities or the department of government regularly  went there for quality checks. “Noodles factory is ISO (International Organization for Standardization ) certified, so there is no chance of negligence in quality. If we neglect quality, the factory may wind-up.” According to them.

Packaging Factory

After we received answers to  all the queries, we moved to the packaging factory. CG Packaging (Nepal) Pvt Ltd. was set up in 2010 with the objective of manufacturing high-quality corrugated boxes for all of CG verticals and external customers. CG Packaging supplies corrugated boxes used by Chaudhary Group for the storage and distribution of a wide range of food and beverage items they produce.

This packaging factory falls under the manufacturing industry. Mainly business deals with two aspect, i.e. B to B and B to C. This factory is a B to B (Business to Business)  factory, which means that the final product is supplied to the business organization, not to the final consumer or customer but, another business supply indirectly. Where B to C (Business to consumer) business deals with direct consumers.

There,in the factory, cartoons are produced and painted. More than 150,000 cartoons per day are produced there.  The main raw material for cartoons is paper. All the paper needed for that factory is bought within the country. For production of cartoons, paper is passed through various processes where it is also passed through chemical processes. After that it is cut and made in different dimensions, according to cartoon size, type and shape.

Cigarette Plant

At last we moved to a cigarette factory, where cigarettes are produced. All the cigarettes produced there are exported outside the country. While we visited there, machines were shut down but some tobacco filing work was running.
